SD Card or SanDisk Card (Secure Digital Memory Card) is a flash memory device based on a new generation of semiconductor memory devices. It is a highly secure stamp-sized flash memory card, jointly developed by Panasonic, Toshiba and SanDisk Corporation in the United States, featuring high memory capacity, fast data transfer rates, great flexibility and a very good mobile security.
Compared to CF cards, SD cards are much smaller. Because of SD cards, digital SLR is able to achieve miniaturization more easily. Currently, SD cards have been gain absolute market share in the digital camera consumer market (except for Sony, Olympus digital cameras, and other brands of digital cameras which use SD card as storage medium), and in the digital SLR field, more and more digital SLR use the Secure Digital Memory Cards.
SD cards are now very cheap in price: a 1GB ordinary SD card is offered at 7.3 USD only and a CLASS4′s 8GB SDHC card may need just 50 USD.
SD card is difficult to distinguish from the appearance. The following will give us a presentation on the common market.
How to identify true SanDisk (SD) card: firstly, look at the memory card itself. SanDisk memory card has genuine positive change color laser affixed label, which will have a different angle laser color changes; secondly, all of the agents, who licensed authentic card in China, used the packaging of plastic packaging similar to the above.
